Happily Ever After

It was another beautiful weekend of weddings here at Porter Valley Country Club. Not a cloud (or flame) in sight.

We kicked off the weekend with Alina and Santiago's Wedding Reception. They hosted a fantastic event of almost 200 people. The bar was customized to include Fat Tire Amber, Black Label, Casadorez Tequila and Patron, per their request. The room was dressed with ivory chair sashes and organza overlays. The event was timeless and classic.

Saturday evening Porter Valley Country Club Members Bernice and Erich celebrated their I Do's with a truly unique Cinderella themed reception... right down to the glass slipper. Black chivari chairs, premium bar, candy table, bubble machine, flamenco players on the terrace, belly bars... every direction you turned was a special addition or decoration. The heart and soul that went into the planning of this fairy tale event was evident. We hope that they live happily ever after.

Joy, the daughter of Porter Valley Country Club Members and her fiancé Sonny tied the knot on our terrace over looking the 18th green on Sunday afternoon. Several members attended this gorgeous Sunday afternoon gathering. A filet and chicken combination was served for lunch followed by a delicious wedding cake from La Creme Bakery.

It was so wonderful to fill our dining room with so many of our Club Members and their families this weekend. It is always a treat so see not only fresh faces, but also children and friends of the people who make this all possible. We wouldn't be Porter Valley Country Club without our Members. And we are so thankful for their time spent here enjoying the Club, celebrating old traditions and creating new traditions.

We're still here... and it's cooled down a bit.

Last Monday the Sesnon Fire broke out nearby our club (read more about it here). Helicopters were "borrowing" water from our ponds to fight the fire. It was an amazing site.

Our appreciation and gratitude goes out to the men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department and neighboring fire departments who were sent to Los Angeles to help. Their bravery and dedication kept our employees and golfers safe, and our course beautiful. We are so fortunate that Porter Valley Country Club was not damaged. After taking a day and a half off for the smoke to clear, we were back up and running once again.

Four days later we began the start of another three-wedding weekend! It was business as usual as Porter Valley Country Club hosted these gorgeous events. You'd never guess that just a few days ago this was the view from the ceremony site:

Third time's a charm? Actually, the third was just as charming as the first.

This chilly October weekend Porter Valley Country Club hosted three weddings. All three were absolutely lovely. It was a pleasure to work with such amazing couples!

Friday evening Dan and Patty and about 134 of their friends and family enjoyed a wonderful reception that followed a gorgeous ceremony facing the lake. Their event included a classical guitarist during the ceremony, tray passed hors d'oeuvres, carved marinated tri-tip buffet and finished it off by serving not only wedding cake, but creme brulee along with a cappuccino bar.

Saturday evening Ferdinand and Grace exchanged their vows as witnessed by 100 guests who no doubt enjoyed the beautiful ceremony, along with the gorgeous views of the lake, fountain, and golf course. They followed the ceremony with tray passed hors d'oeuvres, wine, champagne, and apple martinis. The guests enjoyed a delicious caprese salad, choice of filet mignon ~ almond chicken combination or macadamia crusted sea bass, and ended the evening with the ever-so-popular cappuccino bar.

Sunday evening Kristi and Jamie hosted a gorgeous 200 person event. With the classical guitarist and flautist, and the bride entering on a horse drawn carriage, the ceremony facing the rose garden was truly unforgettable. Instead of a traditional sand ceremony, the bride and groom used rice and beans to honor their heritage (Asian and Hispanic). It's so special when a couple adds such a personal touch to their ceremony. They followed up with a New York strip buffet, and a fantastic party.

A big thanks to the Porter Valley Country Club service staff, vendors, and of course the brides and grooms along with their friends and families for all of the planning, hard work, creativity, and attention to detail that it took to make this past weekend so memorable for all.
